His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to address the country with his seventh update today April 19, 2020.
There were earlier reports that suggested that the President would address the country with his seventh update yesterdayday at 9pm but was discounted by the Director of Communications at the Presidency Euegen Arhin describing the flier making such claims as fake.
According to Eugene Arhin, the President will address the country on Sunday [April 19, 2020] adding that time for the address will be communicated later.
The President is expected to update the country on the latest measures put in place by the government to ensure that the deadly Coronavirus is contained. The President will also give the country an update on the early 21 days of partial lockdown of Greater Accra, Greater Kumasi and Tema.
Well, speaking to Kumasi-based Hello FM, Mrs Sarah Akufo who is a seasoned health economist has hinted that, government directive on whether the president addresses will include additional region or areas as it seems epicenters now, possible total lockdown or extension.
According to the renowned health economist, the president will call on experts before he will make an extension or declare a total lockdown as reports indicate.
Mrs Akufo further stated on live radio that, the president is likely to include three new regions in the lockdown directives.
Northern Region, Eastern Region, Upper West Region, and Oti Region makes the list as it is likely to be affected by the lockdown directives according to Mrs Sarah Akuffo.
Ghana’s current case count stands at 834 with 9 deaths been recorded.
The latest address will put to rest speculations of either a total lockdown or an extension of the lockdown in some parts of the country amidst complaints from some businesses that they are suffering and require some reprieve. source:ghslash.com
