In the run up to the 2020 elections, many celebrities; musicians and actors endorsed the presidential candidates of the various political parties.
Some of the endorsements came as shock to many Ghanaians and courted some controversies whiles others were just indifferent.
Some of the musicians who endorsed presidential candidates included Sarkodie and Samini.
These endorsements cause social media to debate on whether or not such endorsements negatively affect the celebrity’s brand. Whiles others saw it as just a business opportunity to make some money, others thought it ruins the brand that the person may have built over the years.
One person who feels that endorsing a political party may affect their brand negatively is songstress Adina.
The talented singer disclosed in an interview that no amount will make her openly endorse a political party in the future.
She said she doesn’t wish for her political life to be a matter of public discussion therefore her reason to stay out of politics.
“No amount of money will be enough to convince me to endorse a political party. I don’t detest politics but I like to keep my political life very private,” said in the interview.
She stated that her passion for music prevents her from being politically biased since such a move won’t be the best for her career.
“As an artiste, I do music for everybody irrespective of your political affiliation. So I don’t think it would be the best to go on that level of openly endorsing a political party now or in the future,” she concluded.
