Mr Nyantakyi, together with a former member of the Association’s executive committee, Abdulai Alhassan, who implemented a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a ghost company to secure sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League in 2017 has been charged with fraud by Principal State Attorney Victoria Asiedua.
The charges follow allegations by undercover journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team exposing the dealings of the former Ghana Football Association Boss and his right-hand man.
In the investigative video titled Number 12, When Greed and Corruption Become the Norm, Tiger Eye PI alleged Mr Nyantakyi took bribes from their agents to broker deals on behalf of the Ghana FA.
A former member of the Association’s Executive Committee Abdulai Alhassan also faces two charges; conspiracy to commit fraud and fraud.
The duo is alleged to have demanded $12 million from the supposed investors in exchange for mouth-watering contracts in Ghana.
The monies were to be allegedly distributed as $5 million for the President; $3 million for the Vice President; $2 million for the Roads and Highways Minister; $1 million for his Deputy with the rest reserved for Mr Nyantakyi and Mr Alhassan.
Myjoyonline reports that Mr Nyantakyi was admitted to bail in the sum of 1 million cedis with three sureties, one to be justified.
