The scholarship which covers full tuition and other allowances was instituted by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council with the sole aim of awarding brilliant students from all over the world to study PhD in accredited Universities in Hong Kong.
This simply means that international students can apply for the scholarship but will be made to study at any known university situated at Hong Kong for their studies.
Eligible applicants are entreated to show excellent academic records, ability to communicate and research with leadership skills as bonus.
The scholarship secretariat has made a number of universities available for candidates to choose from. Some of these universities include, City University of Hong Kong, Lingnan University, the Universities of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the City University of Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong PhD scholarship apart from the full tuition payment also provides qualified students with annual stipends of HK$331,200. Other benefits include travel, accommodation and research allowances.
The scholarship board again provide additional support for students who wish to continue their education in Hong Kong.
